My academic background (BA) is Psychology with a minor in Gerontology from UNI as well as a MA Counseling with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health. Being a National Certified Counselor is very important to me and so is having practical experience in various areas.
I have practical volunteer and work experience with individuals and families dealing with various dementias; the compounded aspects of caregiver stress, as well as grief and loss by supporting families during hospice care.
I have experience working with domestic violence, family conflicts, relationship issues, anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues. In addition, my internship was in Alcohol/chemical abuse and dependence. These practical experiences have revealed the importance of developing and maintaining genuine relationships that encourage personal growth and change much like we see in nature’s seasons; transitioning, adapting and new growth opportunities or HOPE.
